Learn the flags of the world
There are 194 countries on this page, each with its own flag. Learn them with flashcards or test yourself, one continent at a time or all at once. The cards you get wrong come back sooner, the ones you know come back later.
All flags: the world
How the learning game works
Every country is a card in a box with five compartments. A new card starts in the first one. Each time you know it, it moves one compartment further and comes back less often; each time you miss it, it goes back to the start. That way you spend your time on the flags and capitals you do not know yet, not on the ones you already have.

How to get good at this
Flags are easier once you stop looking at them one at a time. Whole regions share a habit: the Nordic countries all carry an off-centre cross, many Arab flags use the same four colours of red, black, white and green, and a surprising number of former British colonies keep a small Union Jack in the top corner. Learn the family and you have narrowed twenty flags down to five.
Questions children ask
How many flags are there to learn: the world?
194 – one for every country in the list on this page. Territories that belong to another country are not included.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, but only in your browser on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and you can delete it at any time with «Start again from zero».
Why do some cards keep coming back?
Because you did not know them yet. Cards you miss go back to the first compartment and come again soon; cards you know move on and wait longer. It is the same box method many people use to learn words in a new language.
What age is this quiz for?
It is written for roughly eight to twelve year olds, but there is nothing in it that stops an adult being caught out — the harder rounds catch most grown-ups too.
